Steampunk Journal Giveaway
I wanted to do something a bit different as a giveaway for the release of the UK edition of the Baskerville Affair series. So, I took myself to the genius crafter who has customized journals for me before and asked for another steampunk creation. I’d given one away previously to one of my street team, which I loved and could barely bring myself to part with. And here came another journal, very different from the first, and I’m going to be just as reluctant to part with it!!
The clasp on the front is magnetic and finished with a radio tube. There are other found objects, including parts of old London maps, keyholes, and more intriguing pieces. The insides of the covers are decorated as well as the front and back, and there is also a bookmark included. I find myself looking at these journals for ages, because there is always one more image I find that I didn’t notice before. (Click on the images to see a bigger view)

Steam punk has always been a part of me but the reading of it came to me about three years ago. Although I never knew that the name of the genre was Steam Punk, I’ve always love the metal, gears, goggles, and clothing. So When I found Steam Punk, I was in heaven~
I most definitely have Steam Punk as part of my world through reading but I also have some jewelry and looking into clothing for when I go to events.
Oh, wow! I live in a steampunk house–Victorian, twisty staircases, tiny fireplaces, and brasses galore!
I always have to adjust my head beforet venturing forth in the current century in my gasoline powered Chrysler..

I’ve been meaning to read this series for freaking ever. But I did start reading Steampunk a while ago. I really like the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger. I keep re-reading them 🙂

Just discovering it
As my dream home would be part pub, part English gentleman’s club with paneling, oxblood leather club chairs, etc., it’s easy to introduce steampunk elements into that daydream, and when I started redoing my office, I brought in as many little elements as possible. I particularly like the dead lizard displayed on a rock with a stuffed sparrow beside it, contemplating dinner, all under a bell jar, beside my steampunk goggles and pith helmet.

We love Steampunk at our house. We have a fantastic holiday tree that is all steampunk themed. The topper is a Top hat that my husband decorated with gears and other festive steampunk themed items. We also have some fantastic artwork and other creations that are steam themed. We both love the genre and the Victorian era. Fantastic contest. I make Steampunk jewelry that my customers love. I’m not feeling confident enough to enter the world of Steampunk costuming, maybe one day if I ever learn how gears and mechanical devices work… Though I sure appreciate the Victorian and Edwardian aesthetics, and I often find myself working with these in the lines of my burlesque acts.
I’ve been a fan of Steampunk music for a while, but it’s only recently that I’ve discovered Steampunk literature, which I appreciate for its complexity and originality, even if it’s hard to describe to other people (“It’s like Victorian England, but with lizard-men and mechanical body parts, yes…”)
I can’t wait to read your next book, the ending to the Baskerville Affair broke my heart a little bit!
Because I am an ecletic teacher I encourage my students to think outside of the box daily. Our projects are not your typical cookie cutter assortment.I have boxes around the classroom filled with an array of non-traditional items. They come up with some pretty stellar creations. Oh- to be young and not inhibitive.
I have watched the steampunk world grow. It is very interesting. as long as I have my books, I really don’t need anything else.
I bring steampunk into my life via both reading and through jewelry. I love my steampunk books, though when I read my first steampunk novel, I had no idea that’s what I was reading. Now, I love collecting steampunk jewelry when I can find the occasional well-done and affordable piece that fits my style (most pieces do). I also love lifestyle accessories such as this lovely journal you’re offering us a chance to win. This piece is simply stunning!

I think I came to Steampunk as a named genre through the knitting podcast, Brass Needles, who introduced me to Gail Carriger and then I went looking for anything else to read. Love your books and love the multi-volume format. Currently watching Murdoch on Ovation channel as well. But in reality, I’ve loved the concept through HG Wells, Jules Verne, and on to Wild, Wild West! I have several outfits or parts of outfits and jewelry that I wear for my own enjoyment. It’s fun to see people do a double-take when they notice an odd embellishment or maybe a bit more formality in my dress.
LOVE that journal. It’s just the thing to tuck into a vintage doctor’s bag/purse!
For some reason, I always think of Steampunk and Victorian age mixed together. The closest I come close to was hosting a Dr Who’s Day with my brother at my house. Kind of neat with the gadgets.

I’m just discovering the genre and I love the jewelry as well.
This journal is amazing. I love the trilogy but I hope there will be more. There are so many stories to tell and I enjoyed spending time with these characters(well, most of them anyway).
I love going to Renaissence Fair’s and have started wearing a mostly steampunk styled costume.
I’ve loved the whole idea of steam punk, especially after seeing Wild, Wild West with Will Smith and Kevin Klein. I’m always looking for quirky little items at estate sales to decorate with or wear. The most awesome time I ever had though was at Mumford and Sons ” Gentlemen of the Road Tour” English music festival in Troy, Ohio. The whole town was literally tricked out in steam punk decor. It was incredible!
i am fairly new to steampunk and have not had the opportunity to read any yet. I have some friends who are really into it. I also believe the new Sherlock Holmes movies have a steam punk feel to them

Dear Emma Jane, I was not sure I had been introduced to Steampunk, but realized upon looking it up that I am a fan. I love movies which feature steampunk, such as the 1999 version of the Wild Wild West, all the new Sherlock Holmes movies, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and such. I love the Victorian outfits they have from the series. I love all the equipment they use and tend to wear. I bought some of the items and i still enjoy them til this day. It is one of my treasures that i enjoy.I would love to get the journal it is so awesome.

I’ve just dipped into it a little with books and the TV show Oddities, but when I saw a comment about Wild, Wild West, I realized I’ve been interested in it for about 30 years, because I loved the series with Robert Conrad!
How do I punk my steam? Sadly, vicariously. Happily, by reading as many wonderful authors as I can get my eyeballs on (automaton ocular device??) Then I scroll through Pinterest and dream.
It’s all about jewelry for me. Vintagey pins and earrings with a little twist.

I haven’t read a lot of steampunk fiction, but I’ve always liked movies and TV shows based on HG Wells and Jules Verne. I enjoy non-science-fiction Victorian-era stuff as well,and I like a lot of the style of steampunk costuming.

I love journals! This one is so beautifull. There is just something that screams potential. The same with Steampunk. Anything & Everything is possible. I’m fairy new to the whole Steampunk genre. I first came across it in an episode of “Castle” of all things. It just fascinated me. I love the costumes & the gadgets. The first series I read was Gail Carriger’s “Parasol Protectorate” series & I LOVED it. Jane’s series is only my second foray into Steampunk & I’m LOVING it as well!!!

I love to read steampunk and love the growing “steampunk romance” genre. In fact I am not only about to attend the Steampunk World’s Fair, but I got a steampunk tattoo this past weekend. Seriously. The juxtaposition of gears and organic lines is irresistable to me…
I am just discovering Steampunk but I’m already in love! And I LOVE journals! I have some handmade ones that are just exquisite and would love to add this one to my collection! I much prefer handmade because the creators give a little piece of themselves with each one they make.

I have no idea what steampunk is; however, this journal is beautiful.
I bring steampunk into my world through reading and my jewelry selections. There are so many lovely artists out there who create lovely pieces that are just perfect to complement any wardrobe. Being a jewelry freak, I felt adding a taste of Steampunk to my collection was just the thing to do to add a bit of “mood” to my day.
My eldest granddaughter is into steampunk jewelry,
I’ve gotten her several pieces for birthdays and
Christmas. One of the pieces (which I liked myself)
is a pocket watch fashioned into a pendant necklace.

It is the jewelry and tinkets that reflects the Victorian Era. I have read all three books of the Baskerville Affair. Just wonder what will happen to Evie and Nick and if Sherlock Holmes will ever see his niece Evie again.
I love steampunk fashion. I am having a Steampunk Wedding Spectacular on the Winter Solstice. It will be so fun to be immersed in an evening full of steampunk clothing and accessories as well as playing the part of living in a different potential time period. My Pinterest account is basically half Steampunk and half “of this world”.
